Finding Your Spark

As I was sitting in our boat in the middle of Dale Hollow Lake surrounded by my family, I kept thinking how blessed I was with the life I live. There was an energy on the lake as hundreds of boats waited and anticipated the show that was to come. I felt alive...and it felt good!

However, as the fireworks started lighting up the lake, I kept thinking about the parallels of each firework with the lives many of us lead daily. You see, each beautiful, magnificent explosion was ignited with one simple spark. But before they were sent upward into the night sky, they were setting motionless on the ground, confined to a canister. They were unable to move, to lift off.

So many people, myself included, too often become locked in life's cylinder. We cannot seem to bust out. Think about it, we were locked down last year and many are still struggling to find their 'mojo". I declare it is long overdue for all of us to rise, to soar again...like the fireworks on the 4th. You see, it's time to find that "spark", you know the "spark" don't you? It's that thing that gets us excited, motivated and ready to rise to new heights.

So, how? How do we find that "spark", our "spark"?

I believe it begins by focusing on what drives your emotion, your positive energy. We must spend more time on things that bring us joy. There are too many things in this ole life that bring us down, and the past year has seemed to be filled with too much of the negative stuff. Someone much smarter than me once said, "pay more attention to fewer things." We often try to do so much that we fail to focus on those things that matter most. Remind yourself of those things that are important and begin moving farther away from those things that bog you down.

I am convinced that there is a roaring fire burning deep inside each of us, but it often takes a "spark" to ignite the flames. By finding your "spark" you can be the become the firework. You can take off! You can soar! You can become this magnificent, beautiful light that brightens the lives of everyone around you...and at the same time brings you more joy.
